The history of Korean diaspora in Russian Federation and Central Asian countries has been shed light on by wide range of experts after the collapse of the Soviet Union. This issue happens to include one paper and one book review on the crucial issue. In the paper “The History of Korean Social Organizations of Sakhalin in 1989-2015,” Yulia Din, young Sakhalin Korean researcher, explained the history of Korean social organizations in Sakhalin from 1989 to 2015, focusing on some unresolved crucial problems: separation of families, tragedies, difficulties in their lives and adaptation to new trends after Perestroika. The book review included in this issue also reflects on the same issue. In fact, the reviewed book, Корейская диаспора Сахалина: проблема репатриации и интеграция в советское и российское общество (Korean Diaspora in Sakhalin: The Problem of Repatriation and Integration into Soviet and Russian Society)was written by Yulia Din. The reviewer, Vadim Slepchenko summarizes the contents and explains the value of the young Sakhalin Korean expert’s new approach to the crucial issue on the basis of new archival data. It is expected that the paper and the book review will contribute to both the activation of academic researches on the theme and the real comprehensive solution through sincere communication and international cooperation among all concerned countries.
