The history of Korean diaspora in Russian Federation and Central Asian countries has been shedlight on by wide range of experts after the collapse of the Soviet Union. Thisissue happens to include one paper and one book review on the crucial issue.
In the paper “The History of Korean Social Organizations of Sakhalin in 1989-2015,” Yulia Din,young Sakhalin Korean researcher, explained the history of Korean socialorganizations in Sakhalin from 1989 to 2015, focusing on some unresolvedcrucial problems: separation of families, tragedies, difficulties in theirlives and adaptation to new trends after Perestroika.
The book review included in this issue also reflects on the same issue. In fact,the reviewed book, Корейская диаспора Сахалина: проблема репатриации иинтеграция в советское и российское общество (Korean Diaspora in Sakhalin: TheProblem of Repatriation and Integration into Soviet and Russian Society)was written by Yulia Din. The reviewer, Vadim Slepchenko summarizes the contents and explains the value of the young Sakhalin Korean expert’s newapproach to the crucial issue on the basis of new archival data.
